Reach Member Achieves target of getting from 7b+ Redpoint to 8a in 15 weeks using Reach Dual Factor Program

I just heard from the UK that one of our memebers has just completed their target objective of getting from 7b+ to red pointing their first 8a in 15 weeks. Kev Gibson joined us at Reach in January and I designed Kev´s online program around my own experience of getting back to 8a as well as training together in the early winter months.

His recent success is testament to both Reach Climbing Coach and the Dual Factor Program and Kev´s own determination to push through the ceiling of expectation and belief.

Well done Kev! You are a dude!

Coaching at Transition Extreme in Aberdeen

Training for Power on Neil's 70 board
We firstly stopped off at Neil's  for a power session on his 70 board. Neil does 1:1/2 coaching sessions from his climbing gym near Arbroath  and has been coaching for over 10 years at the highest level. His new set up is awesome and the gym is expanding fast! - contact Reachclimbingcoach@gmail.com for details of availability and price for Neil's advanced rock gym sessions.

In Aberdeen, we were coaching with The Granite Rock Team at Transition Extreme climbing and bouldering center. Where we had 5 sessions of youths ranging from 6 to 15 years. Great sessions all round fininshed off with a quick route set for the older boys to have a pop at some power slaps on the yellow V5 slopers of doom!

A trip back west to Kinloch Leven's Ice Factor on the way home saw for a nice bit of plyometrics on a wet day as well as meeting up with Kev Shields for a quick chat and seeing him tackling the steepest wall in the center... a truly inspiring individual...

Coaching from 6b to 7a Red Point at EICA

After doing my first 4x4 session with the MC Geek in a bid to endure! I topped off the evening with a really good session with Alan to get  his campaign to red point a 7a from a 6b fitness level at the EICA on track for success.

Alan started training consistently all through last winter into spring but missed out on his 7a pudding with the happy birth of a new baby and an unhappy wrist injury from a mountain bike fall. But his tea is out now as we begin the short campaign to get his pudding truly served up over the next 4 to 8 weeks.

He is one session from a 6c red point after our first few hrs climbing together with an adjustment in technique and red point tactics already creating change and hopefully getting us on track for the preparatory session on a 7a of choice...

Referrals from clients:

"...This training season I decided to get all the help I can to speed up my improvement. I needed guidance to work towards my goals in long term. I also needed more vision and opinions about my exercises and weak links. I am glad I can share my training with Mark..." (Ville Mustonen, Finland)

" I met Mark in Glen Nevis on his return to climbing to check out some lines he had in mind for me, I wasn't really training at this point but after a day or two talking and training with him I had a much more structured idea of what to do to improve and I did" (Kev Shields)
